The Kashmir Conflict

The Kashmir conflict, a battle for the land of Kashmir. For those who don't know, the Kashmir conflict is a battle for land that has gone on since 1947. The battle is between Kashmir, Pakistan, and India. Both Pakistan and India want more land so they launched attacks on Kashmir, hoping to take it someday. Pakistan thinks they should have the land, India thinks they should have the land, and Kashmir is even thinking about becoming independent. I think Kashmir should be independent.  As stated before, I think Kashmir should be independent. I say this because most people want it this way. First off, a survey shows that over 91% of people in Kashmir want it to be independent meaning that most citizens will be happy with the independence.  Secondly, this war has been going on for decades. It needs to end soon or it could get worse. At this point, they don't seem to be “fighting” as much now, more like claiming that they have so and so land.  I also think that Kashmir s...

Mary Bowser - The Unsung Spy

Imagine this, your breathing down the enemy's neck, you have to try and act as if everything's normal and not make any mistakes. Taking the enemy’s intel inside their very own headquarters. This is what Mary Bowser had done. Mary Bowser was a spy for the union in the civil war, carrying out intelligence tasks to help the union.  Now, you might be asking “Who is Mary Bowser?” well lucky for you, I talk about them here.  Mary Bowser was a spy for the union. She was tasked with spying on the enemy and taking important documents and listening in on important conversations about the confederacy and their plans. After getting the intel, she would bring it back to the union or, tell the union about what's happening and it would be passed onto higher-ups. Before being a spy, she was a slave. Though, not much else is known about Mary Bowser because all known records were destroyed. Mary Bowser was a spy, so this comes with a LOT of challenges. Some, not even involving spy work....

The Pros and Cons of Homework

Homework. You either hate it or love it, there's some pros and cons about it and that's what I’ll be talking about today. For example: you can have stress having to complete that homework when you have other things you want to do, but a pro is you can actually get some extra practice in with it.  Homework is schoolwork that a student is required to do at home. In this paragraph I’ll talk about the pros of homework. (good side of homework) Don't worry, we’ll get to the cons later. One of the many pros of doing homework is getting more practice on a topic. If you’re confused, curious, whatever, you get some more practice in with homework. Yes, if you're confused then homework can't help since you don't know how to do the assignment,  but, if you are in that situation you can contact your teacher for help. If you can't contact them, meet them in class the next day and tell them why you couldn't do it.  Secondly, with homework it helps studying. It's b...

Ocean Pollution, and Overfishing - How can we solve it?

The ocean, it is a body of water that covers more than 70% of our planet and provides food, and water for all of us. Yet, even though we know it's a needed resource, we still throw up to 14 billion pounds of trash into the ocean each year. “ Healthy oceans and seas are essential to our existence. They cover 70 percent of our planet and we rely on them for food, energy and water. Yet, we have managed to do tremendous damage to these precious resources. We must protect them by eliminating pollution and overfishing and immediately start to responsibly manage and protect all marine life around the world.” - globalgoals.org In this blog, I will be listing some problems with ocean pollution and how we can solve these problems.  Ocean pollution, ocean pollution occurs when harmful effects result from the entry into the ocean of chemicals, particles, industrial, agricultural and residential waste, noise, or the spread of invasive organisms. Eighty percent of marine pollution comes from land...

Ocean Pollution

Did you know, about 14 billion pounds of trash is dumped into the ocean each year?  This is one of the main causes for our oceans being polluted. And in this blog, I will talk about how the ocean is being polluted.  By 2050, there will be more trash in the ocean than fish in the ocean. Here, I list some causes and effects of throwing trash into the ocean. First is Chemical Impacts. When trash is thrown into the sea, chemicals associated with the accumulation and transport of persistent, bioaccumulative and toxic contaminants, like PCBs and pesticides will harm the fish and habitats.  Secondly, is when fish try to digest these plastics. When fish digest plastic, or any type of trash, it causes all types of problems. Most being Internal and external wounds. But, one key to their survival is also limited. When these fish try to digest the plastic or trash, it will get blocked up and cause  a dent in their digestive capacity.  Eight million metric tons...
